We are delighted to announced that Desertmartin GAC will be be participating in the Every Step Counts Challenge and Ireland Lights Up in 2024.
Every Step Counts starts on January 8th. It would be great if we could get as many as possible to download the app and get signed up – it only takes 5 minutes. More info and instructions on how to sign up can be found here – https://mylife.irishlife.ie/every-step-counts-2024
The ever popular Ireland Lights Up also returns in January 2024, commencing on January 10th, in partnership with RTE’s Operation Transformation and Get Ireland Walking. The Community Hub will be open every Wednesday for tea and a chat, but as ever the walking track will be lit up every night.
Every Step Counts and Ireland Lights Up encourages GAA clubs across the 32 counties to light up and bring communities together to walk and talk in a safe environment during the dark winter evenings. In 2023, over 1000 GAA clubs signed up for Ireland Lights Up helping tens of thousands of participants improve their physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Clubs also recruited over 29,600 walkers to participate in the Every Steps Counts Challenge delivered through the ‘MyLife’ app, in partnership with the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs programme. Participants walked over 5,500,000 kms during the five-week challenge.
Both initiatives can help with future grant funding, and Every Step Counts can help get the club entered in a draw for money with €30,000 up for grabs!
