90th anniversary reception at Mid Ulster Council

On Friday 10th March the club was invited to a reception night held at the Mid Ulster District Council offices in Magherafelt to celebrate the 90 year anniversary of the official formation Desertmartin GAC. GAA activity in Desertmartin stretches back to June 1885, but the club officially formed in 1933.

A massive thank you to councillor Córa Corry for chairing, the councillors in attendance and the caterers for a great display of food and drinks. Thank you also to club secretary Colm Breen on providing a history of the emergence of the GAA and Gaelic revival on the island. Colm also put together a display of some of the historical information and milestones throughout the years. Pat Kidd paid tribute to club members past and present who got the club to the place it is today and asked for continued support to keep developing our club going forward. Córa Corry, chair of mid ulster district council, presented club vice chairperson James Breen with a decorative memento to mark the occasion.

Here’s to another 90 years!
