Seniors and Reserves both loose

Both the Seniors and Reserves played host to Greenlough tonight with both teams failing to pick up any points.

Both Senior and Reserve teams had a dissappointing one point defeat against Greenlough in the first home fixture of the new season.

After a good win against Division One neighbours, Ballinascreen, confidence should have been high.  The game started quite slowly with both sides airing on the side of caution and with some wayward shooting resulting in a fairly even, if low scoring first half.

The second half didnt seem to come to life until the Martins found themselves trailing by 3 points with ten minutes to go.  They ounted a serious assault on hauling themselves back into the game.  They battled until the end but found that one ellusive point to tie the game impossible to comeby and ended loosing by the narrowest and hardest margin of one point.

The Reserve game was almost a repeat of the Senior game, with the Martins suffering there first defeat in a whole calender year, and more surprisingly what must be the first home defeat in over two years.

Both teams will look back and rue missed chances and lapses in concentration that provided a battling Greenlough side who never stopped trying with vital points in this years league
