Reserves beat by Newbridge

Saturday evening saw our reserves travell to Newbridge looking to notch up another two points following their victory over Drumsurn in the opening game of the league.

Playing against a strong wind in the first half Desertmartin started well and opened the scoring in the first minute of the game. With both teams taking their points it was looking like this game would be decided by who got the goals and that’s what Newbridge got 10 minutes into the game. With a few more point in the board Newbridge went into the break with a 5 point lead.

With the start of the second half, the Desertmartin supporters expected a strong fight back and although they started the second half stong the comeback looked even further away when Newbridge added two more goals to their daily count giving them a 7 point lead.

Then Desertmartin hit a purple patch and two goals from full forward, Marty Kelly, followed by a few more points from both Newbridge and our lads, leaving the scores even going into the final few minutes.

However, just when the come back looked to have been complete Newbridge broke throught the Desertmartin defence to pop over what turned out to be the winning point in the final minute of the game.

Better luck next time lads.
